My Aadhaar UIDAI – Download Aadhaar, Update, Check Status

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) was created in 2009 by Government of India under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

UIDAI manages Aadhaar system and issues a 12-digit unique Aadhaar number to residents of India. This number helps people prove identity and address and is widely used for banking, SIM cards, government schemes, and many online services.

Today, almost all Aadhaar work can be done online through My Aadhaar portal — from downloading Aadhaar to updating address, ordering PVC card, or generating Virtual ID.

Aadhaar Services (Online)

My Aadhaar Login

My Aadhaar login on MyAadhaar portal lets you access your personal Aadhaar dashboard securely by using your unique 12-digit Aadhaar number and also an OTP.

Login Process (MyAadhaar Portal):

• Visit My Aadhaar (https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/) portal.
• Click Login.

• Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and captcha.
• Click Login with OTP.
• Enter OTP received on your registered mobile.

Download Aadhaar (e Aadhaar)

Download a secure digital copy of your Aadhaar for use in various services.

Open My Aadhaar portal https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/, after UIDAI login click Download Aadhaar.

• Enter Aadhaar Number / EID / VID.
• Fill captcha.

• Verify OTP.
• Download PDF.

Your PDF is password protected. Password = First 4 letters of your name (CAPITAL) + Birth Year. Example:

Check Enrolment or Update Status

If you applied for Aadhaar or updated details, you can track progress online.

• Open My Aadhaar portal https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/. Click Check Enrolment & Update Status.

• Enter EID or URN.
• Verify OTP.

You will see status like:

1. Under Processing
2. Aadhaar Generated
3. Update Completed

You can also call 1947 from registered mobile to hear status by IVR.

Document Update

If your Aadhaar information is wrong or changed, you can update online.

Login to My Aadhaar UIDAI Portal https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/. Select Document Update / Update Aadhaar.

• Choose what you want to update.
• Upload supporting documents (POI / POA / DOB proof).

1. Review details carefully.
2. Submit request.
3. Save your URN to track status.

Mobile Number Update

Now you can update mobile number digitally using new official UIDAI Aadhaar app (uidai gov.in).

• Login using Aadhaar
• Verify identity with OTP + face authentication
• Enter new mobile number
• Submit

Update reflects in 15–30 days.

Note: Old mAadhaar app does NOT support mobile update.

After you submit an Aadhaar update request, UIDAI usually takes 7 to 30 days to process and approve the changes. In most cases, updates such as address, mobile number, or name are completed within 10 to 15 days, but some requests may take longer if document verification is required.

Once the update is approved, you can download your updated Aadhaar online from the UIDAI portal.

Retrieve EID or Aadhaar Number

If you forgot Aadhaar or enrolment ID:

• Open https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ My Aadhaar portal.
• Click Retrieve EID / Aadhaar Number

• Fill in your full name and registered mobile number or email ID.
• Select whether you want to retrieve your Aadhaar Number or Enrolment ID.

• Enter name + registered mobile/email.
• Verify OTP.

Your Aadhaar or EID will be sent to your mobile/email.

Verify Email or Mobile Number

To confirm linked contact details:

1. Go to Verify Email/Mobile option.
2. Enter Aadhaar + contact info.
3. Complete OTP verification.

You’ll see confirmation message once verified.

Generate Virtual ID (VID)

VID is temporary 16-digit number used instead of Aadhaar for privacy.

• Visit VID Generator on My Aadhaar https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/.

• Enter Aadhaar number.
• Verify OTP.
• Generate new VID or retrieve old one.

VID is sent to registered mobile.

Order Aadhaar PVC Card

PVC Aadhaar is small plastic card (wallet size).

• Login to My Aadhaar.
• Click Order Aadhaar PVC Card.

• Enter Aadhaar number.

Pay ₹50 (includes GST + speed post). Card is delivered to your Aadhaar address in 5–15 working days.

To check the progress of your PVC Adhar Card request:

Use SRN (from payment slip) on Check Aadhaar PVC Status page.

Status shows:

Locate Aadhaar Enrolment Center

To find nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra:

• Open Locate Enrolment Center.

• Enter PIN / city / state.
• View nearby centres with address & contact.

mAadhaar is official mobile app for Aadhaar services.
